Journal Postings

I heard a Mormon Message a few days ago that quoted from President Eyring:
I wrote down a few lines every day for years. I never missed a day no matter how tired I was or how early I would have to start the next day. Before I would write, I would ponder this question: “Have I seen the hand of God reaching out to touch us or our children or our family today?” As I kept at it, something began to happen. As I would cast my mind over the day, I would see evidence of what God had done for one of us that I had not recognized in the busy moments of the day. As that happened, and it happened often, I realized that trying to remember had allowed God to show me what He had done.” In General Conference Address, October 2007
I have tried to do the same to some degree, but have never been successful in a daily effort of journal writing. I have kept personal journals on a frequent basis for the past 10-12 years, and though I have tried many times to become a daily writer, I have been largely unsucessful. Here we go. I will follow President Eyring's advice and see if I can become more consistent with these entries. I will include some things of a spiritual nature, but will mostly record those day-to-day things that wish to remember of my children. They mature so quickly, and I know that one day I will miss their daily presence. As President Monson likes to quote: "God gave His children memory, that in life's garden there might be June roses in December." G.A. Studdert-Kennedy
These things are written to my children and I as I write, I often picture you sitting together after rediscovering my old leather journals sometime after I am gone. I hope you laugh. I hope you fondly remember the time we were able to spend together.
